I am extremely proud of my plush collection. As of 2022 l own at least one of every known official Mewtwo plush* in existence!
*Some plushies have had re-releases or slight variations (in the case of Play by Play). For the sake of my sanity, I am not aiming to collect EVERY variation of every plush. Just the ones with major differences in pattern or size.

White-Tailed Mewtwo Banpresto Plush (1997)
This was the very first official Mewtwo ever made, way back in 1997. He's so cute, in a derptacular way. This is the white-tailed version, aka the original version of this plush. It's amazing to see how far Banpresto has come since these old days. His fingers and eyes are made of glued-on felt!

Banpresto Suzunari Mewtwo "Bell" Plush (1997)
I FINALLY GOT MYSELF ONE OF THESE!! WOOHOO!! This thing used to be mythically rare. A few have popped up on Ebay in recent years for crazy amounts of money (in the $300+ range, and some didn't even have their boxes!), but they haven't sold (honestly who has that kind of money for 3 inches of felt, lmao...) But I found this one for a good price ($100 shipped) and snapped it right up! At the time of acquisition it was the last plush I needed to have at least 1 of every official Mewtwo plush ever released. It's tiny, but very cute! Rarity: Extremely Rare |
Hasbro Mewtwo Beanie (1998)
The most common Mewtwo plush you'll ever see. He's not made poorly or anything, I just get so tired of looking at him in Ebay searches.
(2019 self to my 2011 self: Oh, you think Ebay is bad now? Just wait until modern times, where every page is 99% the same duplicate bootleg plush listing!)

Mewtwo Applause Plush (1998)
I have no idea why this plush is so hard to come by. He's American-made and was part of a large line of similar plushes. But hey, at least I got one (and for just under 10 bucks too!).
I also ended up picking up a MIP one from a local thrift store as well, that I may photograph eventually.

Mewtwo Zipper Pull Keychain Plush (1998)
He's so little and cute. Made by Accessory Network.
For a while there, this guy was one of my mini-grails. When I finally found him, he was buried in the back of an Ebay lot full of giant plushes. Then I met his even rarer cousin...

Berkshire Fashions Mewtwo Keychain (1998)
Huzzah!
This naked little Mewtwo is one of the rarest of his plushes. He's very simple and primitive in design, which led many to believe he was a bootleg. However a fellow Mewtwo collector actually got a hold of a phone number for Berkshire Fashions, called them up and inquired about this guy, and it turns out he's 100% authentic.
He showed up on Ebay BIN for $20 one night just as I was heading to bed. Needless to say, it made my night.

RARE Tomy Mewtwo Reversible Pokeball Plush (1998?)
Mini-grail <3 (hence the crown)
This is sort of a 'mirage plush'. No one knows much about it! It's easily one of the rarest Mewtwo plushes ever made. Its tush tag says Tomy, but other than that, its origins are a mystery. It has a zipper on its tush so you can apparently reverse it and zip it up into a Pokeball plush. I didn't really want to stuff Mewtwo into his own butt, so I didn't try it.
Rarity aside, he's absolutely adorable, and was worth every cent I paid for him.

RARE Mewtwo Bath Buddy (1998)
THIS...this is the stuff of collector legend. The quest for the bath buddy was what got me into Mewtwo collecting. I saw others searching for it, and said to myself "Huh, I wonder just how hard it is to find..." And thus began my prowling of the internet for Mewtwo items. Along the way I discovered Mewtwos big and small, of every color and shape, ranging from cheap bootlegs to expensive, rare plushes that seemed impossible to obtain.
All of it fascinated me. It was at that moment that I decided to make the jump from Mewtwo lover to Mewtwo collector.
I met other collectors, including some other Mewtwo collectors. They became my comrades (and friendly competition), linking me to auctions and Ebay listings I otherwise may have missed. We traded, we bought and sold from one another, all in an attempt to find that one true grail that everyone is looking for.
As for this particular bath buddy, there's a funny story as to how I acquired it...it was sent to me by accident! I had placed an order from a collector who was selling her Mewtwo side collection to fund a wedding, and I found him buried in with the other stuff I ordered. I screamed! I was holding an actual Mewtwo Bath Buddy, in my own hands! And it was free!
...Of course, being of good moral conscience, I contacted the seller and paid what I had bid for him. She was looking for a good home for it anyway, and thankfully at the time every other active Mewtwo collector either already had one or was saving for non-Mewtwo grails.
Rarity: My one and only true holy grail. <3 (Also, EXTREMELY rare.)

Small Mewtwo Play by Play Plushes (2000)
Play by Play is notorious for releasing dozens of slightly-different varieties of the same plush. As you can see the fur type is different despite the plush model being virtually the same. The one on the left has shorter, coarser fur, while the one on the right has thicker, softer fur.
Rarity: Fairly Common (the fluffier version seems to be rarer than the short-hair versions)

GIANT Mewtwo Play-by-Play (2000)
Expect to never see a proper picture of this guy, since he doesn't fit in my lightbox...
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you...
Kronos!
At nearly 2 feet tall, he is the largest Mewtwo anything in my entire collection. He's big and beautiful.
I won him for just under a hundred dollars, which I was both happy and a little nauseated about.

Play-by-Play Mewtwo Backpack (Year Unknown)
His straps were torn out and he was stitched shut in the back, so I gave him a leather jacket to cover all that. Now he's Cool.
Lordy lordy is this guy expensive.
I got into a major bidwar for this guy back in the day, because these things are apparently super rare nowadays. I'd love to find one with the straps someday.

Mewtwo DX UFO Catcher (2005)
The prices these guys go for are OUTRAGEOUS. I managed to snag him Buy-It-Now on Yahoo! Japan for what amounted to $70 after fees, shipping, and such. Which is still less than half the price he typically goes for on Ebay.
I do not at all regret this purchase. He is the cutest (and softest) Mewtwo plush I've yet to encounter.
2019 edit: It seems the prices for these plushes have gone down considerably. That's definitely a positive - it's a very cute and cuddly plush, probably one of Mewtwo's best in that regard.
Rarity: Rare, VERY EXPENSIVE.

Mewtwo Finger Puppet (2007)
This was part of a set of 2007 10th Anniversary Finger Puppets. They're adorably cute, but they are WAY too expensive online. I got Mewtwo through a Group Buy on PKMNCollectors (someone bought the box set for one puppet and split them up so a bunch of people could put forth money for the other puppets). Working together with other collectors is definitely the most fun part of collecting.

Custom Fancy Mewtwo Plush (2012)
I'm not normally one for custom plushes, as they tend to be incredibly expensive (with even an average size plush often costing $200-$300 or more) and not really worth the money in the end.
But I do have one custom plush - this lanky, adorable Fancy Mewtwo. Made by Jenny Harris, this plush is made of soft, minky fabric and is about 10 inches tall. He's beautiful!

Mewtwo Pokedoll (2013)
FINALLY
It was downright insulting that Mewtwo didn't have a Pokedoll. Mew got one right when they first launched the plush line. Now, in 2013, justice has finally been served.
2018 edit: It's funny, back in 2013 I marked the Rarity of this plush as "Common" but since then the real plush has become extremely rare. Virtually every single one of them on EBay, Amazon and elsewhere are grossly misshapen bootlegs that get the colors all wrong as well. Buyer beware, you cannot get an official Mewtwo Pokedoll for under ~$50 these days.
Rarity: Rare, VERY commonly bootlegged

Tomy/Pokemon Center Mewtwo Plush (2013)
Been a long time since Tomy made a Mewtwo plush. This one's cute, but in no way particularly memorable (unfortunately).
This plush has been re-released a few times with sliight changes in 2015, 2017, and possibly other times. I remember driving myself crazy at Gamestop one time trying to look at this pic on my phone while holding one of the re-releases in my hands for comparison. I concluded that the differences are minimal, and that I don't like it enough to buy every single re-release lol.

Banpresto All Star Collection Mewtwo Plush (2016)
I can honestly say that out of all of Mewtwo’s (many, many) plushes, this is probably the cutest official one I’ve seen. It gets his look right and accurate (aka isn’t super-deformed/chibi style) while still managing to capture his cuteness. Amazing. And it's soft as heck, too!
I brought this little guy to see Detective Pikachu in theaters and I cried all over him. Whoops.

Rainbow Rocket Team Leader's Mewtwo Plush (2018)
This plush was part of a promotional line for Ultra Sun and Moon's Rainbow Rocket team. Mewtwo represented Giovanni. This plush is fairly unique in that its proportions are right in the middle between realistic and chibi, kind of a rarity for Mewtwo. The fur is a soft minky and the eyes are nicely embroidered, and it's about 9 inches tall from ear to toe. Overall a very nice collectible. Rarity: Common |

In Japan they're called Pokemon Fit, in the U.S. "Sitting Cuties". Same thing. The Pokemon Center decided to go nuts and release a line of EVERY SINGLE Kanto Pokemon. 150 plushes.
